PTE Score - Everything You Need to Know
The Pearson Test of English, better known as PTE, is an English proficiency test that is required to be taken by non-native English speakers who wish to study abroad. The exam is divided into three sections- Writing and Speaking (together), Reading, and Listening. In this blog post, we will be focusing on the Writing and Speaking section of the PTE and what kind of score you need to get in order to study abroad.
Writing and Speaking section of PTE
The Writing and Speaking section of the PTE is worth a total of 77 points. To get a good score on this section, you will need to focus on two things- your grammar and your fluency. For grammar, make sure that you are using proper verb tenses and agree with your subject and verb. In terms of fluency, try to speak at a natural pace without pausing too often. Here is a breakdown of the different tasks in the Writing and Speaking section and what kind of score you will need in order to get into different colleges in the respective country:
- Summarize Written Text: 56+
- Retell Lecture: 46+
- Answer Short Question: 36+
- Answer Long Question: 30+
- Read Aloud: 26+
As you can see, the Writing and Speaking section of the PTE is not too difficult to get a good score on if you are prepared. Just make sure to brush up on your grammar rules and practice speaking fluently before taking the exam!

In the Reading section, you will encounter items such as:
